Big Bee Farm is a working bee farm open to visitors to see how bees are kept and honey is produced from live hives — an educational stop rather than an amusement.
What you see
Staff explain how the bees are kept, how a hive is structured and how honey is harvested, with tastings of different honeys whose colour and flavour follow the flowers the bees worked.
There is a shop selling bee products — honey, royal jelly and beeswax goods.
Worth knowing
- It takes little time — combine it with other stops nearby
- There are live bees on site: anyone allergic to stings should take care and tell the staff
- Avoid strong perfume, and do not swat at the bees
- Check the opening hours before travelling
