Tawaen is Ko Lan's main beach and where the ferry lands, so it is the first beach most people see. White sand and clear water.
The fullest, and the busiest
Being the main beach, it has everything — restaurants, rooms, deckchairs and the full range of water sports: jet skis, parasailing, banana boats. The trade-off is that it is crowded through the day, particularly between 10:00 and 15:00 when the morning ferries have all arrived.
If you want quieter
If it feels too full when you land, take a songthaew on to Samae or Tien beach — both close by and noticeably calmer.
Worth knowing
- Agree prices before using anything, deckchairs and water sports alike
- Bring cash; card acceptance is limited
- Early morning, before the main ferries land, is when the sand is emptiest
