Ko Kham (Ko Kham Undersea Park) lies off Samae San in Sattahip and is run as a conservation site under the Royal Thai Navy. Access is capped in both numbers and hours, which is why the water is still clear and the sand still clean compared with beaches anyone can drive to.
Getting there
Boats leave from the Samae San shore, and they are official navy boats rather than private charters. The published crossing fares are 300 THB for Thai adults, 250 THB for children aged 6–14 and 600 THB for foreign visitors, covering the return trip and use of the toilets on the island.
Tickets go on sale at 08:30 on weekdays and 07:30 at weekends and on holidays. Sailings per day are limited and can sell out on long weekends, so come early. Fares and timings do change — check before you travel.
On the island
- Snorkelling — the main draw, with reef close in from the beach
- Kayaking along the shoreline
- A glass-bottomed boat for anyone not going in the water
- Walking trails across the island
Rules worth knowing
No overnight stays are permitted. Everyone leaves on the last boat. As a protected area, take all your rubbish back with you, do not stand on or touch the coral, and follow the staff's instructions.
