Wat Yanasangwararam is a royal temple in the Pattaya area, and its scale sets it apart from ordinary temples — this is not somewhere you walk round in ten minutes, but a site you move between points within.
Three architectures on one site
What makes it interesting is the gathering of Thai, Chinese and Indian architecture in a single compound, each built in its own idiom and clearly separated, so walking from one to the next makes the differences immediately legible.
There are also lotus ponds and gardens laid into the plan, which keep the grounds open and easy to walk compared with temples whose buildings crowd together.
Making it walkable
- A shuttle tram circles the grounds — use it; the distances are longer than they look
- Free entry
- Mornings are best; most of the site is open ground without shade
- Dress modestly, shoulders and knees covered, and remove your shoes before entering buildings
