Phanat Nikhom has woven bamboo for generations, and this centre was built as the emblem of that craft — the building itself is shaped like an oversized woven basket, which is where the name comes from.
Inside
It displays and sells basketry made by the surrounding communities: household pieces such as carrying baskets, trays and winnowing fans, and decorative work designed for modern homes. Prices track the fineness of the weave and the hours it took.
It suits anyone after a souvenir actually made where they are standing, rather than one produced elsewhere and shipped in.
Before you go
- A short visit — pair it with the street art and the Phra Phanat Bodi shrine
- Bamboo needs some care; ask the seller how to keep a larger piece
- Parking on site
