Wat Tai Ton Lan is in Na Phra That, Phanat Nikhom — an old temple founded in the reign of Rama III, its name a reference to the landscape the community once sat in. It still serves the surrounding neighbourhood, and it is quiet rather than busy.
What to look at
- Murals in the ordination hall, painted in the same period as the building
- A scripture library built over a pond — the traditional way of keeping termites and damp away from manuscripts
- A small museum on the grounds holding local objects and everyday things
Before you go in
The ordination hall and the museum may not be open at all times; ask at the temple when you arrive. Dress modestly, take your shoes off before entering, and do not use flash on the murals.
